Aftercare advice
After a reflexology you might experience some of the following reactions:
- an increase in the symptoms you currently experience i.e. fatigue or muscular aches
- increase in frequency of micturition and bowel movements
- headaches
- flatulence
- heightened emotional reactions
- change in sleep patterns and vivid dreams
These reactions are normal parts of the Healing Process and will quickly pass, usually within 24-48 hrs. Over a course of treatments these responses settle down.
DO:
- Drink plenty of water to help flush out lymphatic waste and toxins from the body as well as to rehydrate you
- Try and have a calm rest of day
- Light exercise (i.e. a walk)
- Eat a light meal after treatment to give your body time to remove waste products
- Eat fresh fruit and vegetables to get natural sugars and vitamin C to enhance the detoxification process
AVOID:
- Avoid any strenuous sport for the rest of the day
- Do not drink alcohol and avoid tea/coffee for a period of 12 hrs to prevent overloading your body with toxins (drink herbal teas instead)
ENCOURAGED:
- Regular exercise is encouraged (i.e. daily brisk walk or yoga/pilates will encourage lymphatic flow and the removal of waste from the body)
- Skin brushing with a natural soft bristle brush assists elimination through the skin
- Consider reducing stress through meditation and visualisation exercise to help rest the mind and body
- Make a note of any changes you experience (i.e. more/less energy, any soreness or relief of pain in an area, increased micturition.)
